Marvelous Magnetic Bookmarks

Marvelous Magnetic Bookmarks is a hands-on art and craft workshop for school-age children ages 6 to 12, held at the Franklin Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Wednesday, November 18, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. It's a one-hour session, so it fits right into a weekday afternoon without taking up the whole evening.

During the workshop, kids work through several different art techniques to design and make their own custom magnetic bookmarks. The goal is for each child to walk away with a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art they can actually use every day. Along the way, they'll also get a look at how magnets work, so there's a bit of science mixed in with the crafting.

If you've got a kid in that 6-to-12 range who likes to make things, this is a good one to keep on your radar. It's a guided session, so they'll be working with materials and techniques rather than just drawing on a piece of paper at home. And since the end result is something they'll use in their books, it's a project that lasts past the hour they spend making it.

Registration opens on Wednesday, November 4, at 4:30 PM, and the workshop itself is on Wednesday, November 18, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Franklin Road Branch, 5550 South Franklin Road, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
