Inclusive birding hike for all ages at Holliday Park Nature Center; free and no registration required.
Let's Go Birding Together is back at Holliday Park Nature Center on Saturday, October 17, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. It's a guided birding hike through the park's wooded trails, and the organizers describe it as an inclusive outdoor experience. They're welcoming LGBTQ+ community members, allies, families, beginning birders, and anyone else who wants to get outside and look at birds. If you've never birded before, this is a good place to start.
Holliday Park is one of Indianapolis' oldest parks and a year-round destination. There are more than 3.5 miles of wooded trails, a nature-inspired playground, river access, and a free indoor Nature Center. Inside, Habitat Hall spans 13,000 square feet and houses hands-on exhibits like the White River Water Table, the Music of the Wetlands audio station, and an elevated hardwood forest canopy viewing area. The playground was fully reimagined with nature-themed, inclusive play elements. The Ruins, the park's architectural centerpiece, are historic limestone sculptures originally part of New York City's St. Paul Building and relocated to Indianapolis in the 1950s. There's also the Susan Bayh Outdoor Classroom, part of the Outdoor Learning Lab.
