A festive Christmas tour of the Harrison family home, with the Harrisons wrapping presents and offering holiday wishes as they would have in 1888.
LIVE! Family Christmas comes to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site on Sunday, December 6, from 10 AM to 3 PM. It's a one-day-only event, so if you want to catch it, you'll need to make it work that Sunday.
The tour takes you back to Christmas 1888, when President Benjamin Harrison, his Ohio family, and the household staff were all home for the holidays. You'll find them wrapping presents and chatting about the family's upcoming move to Washington, and whether there'll be a Christmas tree in the White House. Before you head back out, the Harrisons offer their holiday wishes.
The site itself is the home of the 23rd president. His library holds nearly 3,000 books, and his wife, First Lady Caroline Scott Harrison, inspired the Victorian Porcelain Ornament Workshop, a holiday keepsake experience. The Benjamin Harrison Legacy Society is quoted on the page: "The bud of victory is always in the truth."
