One-time adult workshop to make paper beads from recycled newspaper and book pages and turn them into custom necklaces and bracelets.
Intro to Paper Bead Making is coming to the West Indianapolis Branch on Tuesday, November 10, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. It's a one-time workshop for adults, so you don't have to commit to a whole course—you just show up for the evening and walk away with something you made.
The whole point is turning things you'd usually toss into something you can wear. You'll be making your own beads from recycled newspaper and old book pages, rolling them up and shaping them into unique pieces. From there, you combine those handmade beads with traditional ones and cords to put together your own custom necklace and bracelet. You leave the session with a piece of eco-friendly jewelry that you actually made yourself.
If you've never done anything like this before, that's fine. No prior experience is necessary, and the library provides all the materials, so you don't need to bring a thing. It's a low-pressure way to spend a Tuesday evening—you'll learn a new skill, hang out with other adults, and get a finished piece of jewelry out of it. The session is made possible by Danny & Debbie Dean and the Danny R. Dean Fund.
