Weekly open improv jam with classic games and exercises, all levels welcome, no sign-up required.
Improv Happy Hour is back at The Wit Theater on Thursday, October 22, starting at 7:30 PM. It's an open improv jam, which means anyone who shows up can hop in and play. Each session runs through classic improv games and exercises in a low-pressure, high-fun environment, and it's built for two very different kinds of people: first-timers who've always been curious about improv but haven't had a reason to try it, and seasoned players looking to keep their skills sharp. There's no sign-up required, all levels are welcome, and you can come to play, to watch, or just to see what happens.
It's one of the weekly fixtures at The Wit Theater, Indianapolis's home for live comedy. The theater also stages ComedySportz improv, stand-up, adult improv, and open mics. ComedySportz itself has been around since February 1993, when it opened at Theatre on the Square in Fountain Square; it spent 21 years on Mass Ave before moving to Shelby Street, and it's now one branch of CSz Worldwide, which is played in more than 25 cities. Beyond the shows, the venue runs adult improv classes, drop-in workshops, youth summer camps, a high school league, and Wit@Work team-building.

If you've never done improv, this is a good place to start. Because it's a jam and not a formal production, you can jump in when you feel like it or stay in the audience and watch how the games work. If you're already a player, it's a low-stakes way to get some reps in during the week. Either way, you don't need to prepare anything in advance. The session starts at 7:30 PM at The Wit Theater, 3808 Shelby St., Indianapolis, IN 46227.
