Annual mini swap-meet at the West Perry Branch where neighbours trade seeds, plants, tools, books and gardening extras.
The West Perry Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library is hosting its annual Share Month Gardening Group on Friday, November 13, from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM. It's a mini swap-meet run by the branch, and it's open to all ages, so you can bring the kids along if you're into gardening as a family thing.
The format is straightforward: neighbors trade seeds, plants, tools, books, and other gardening extras. If you've got a surplus of something—maybe a few packets of seeds you won't get through or a gardening book you've already read—you bring them in and swap them for things you actually need. It's a good way to refresh your supplies without spending a dime, and it works just as well if you're a seasoned grower as if you're just starting out.
If you haven't spent much time there, the West Perry Branch is a 24,000-square-foot library that opened in 2021 to fill a service gap in the growing Perry Township community. It's built to support the area's immigrant population, with materials in Spanish and children's Burmese. The space includes a community meeting room that holds up to 203 guests, a fireplace, a marketplace, computer stations, children's and teen zones, and an outdoor patio. Right next to the fireplace is the branch's Seed Library, which gives out vegetable, herb, and flower seeds year-round.

That Seed Library is a good place to start if you're coming to the swap with empty hands—you can pick up some seeds there and then trade them for something else during the session. The Share Month Gardening Group runs from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM on Friday, November 13, at the West Perry Branch, 6650 S Harding St, Indianapolis, IN 46217.
