Pay-what-you-can improv open mic, a 'part show / part you play' night run by ComedySportz for all levels of improvisers.
The Improv Mixer is back at The Wit Theater on Friday, October 30, starting at 10 PM. It's an improv open mic run by ComedySportz, and they describe it as "part show / part you play," which is a pretty good way to sum up how it works. The night is aimed at anyone in the improv community and anyone who enjoys comedy, so you don't need to be a performer to get anything out of it.
If you're coming to play, it's a space to learn new improv games and bump elbows with other improvisers. The format is open and low-pressure: you can come to play, to watch, or just to see what happens. There's no sign-up required, so all levels are welcome, from first-timers curious about improv to seasoned players keeping their skills sharp. If you've never stepped on a stage before, this is as easy a way to start as you'll find.
If you'd rather stay in the audience, that works too. You get to see the games unfold in real time, and since it's an open mic, you're watching people work through things on the fly rather than a polished, rehearsed set. It's less of a traditional show and more of a community night where the line between the stage and the seats is pretty thin.
