Workshop from the Internet Toolkit series at the Warren Branch on how to search, sift and verify information in the age of AI.
How Do I Know What's Real? - How to Search, Sift, and Verify Information in the Age of AI is coming to the Warren Branch on Monday, November 9, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. It's a workshop on how to search, sift, and verify information in the age of AI, and it's part of The Internet Toolkit, a series from the Indianapolis Public Library designed to help adults build a solid foundation for using the web in everyday life.
If you're not familiar with the series, it runs over three weeks, with each week a separate session. The first covers browser basics and helpful tips; the second focuses on specific searches, keyboard shortcuts and security basics like passwords and two-factor authentication; the third takes in browser customization, printing from the internet and the digital footprint. This workshop is the one that looks at how to tell what's real when you're searching for information online, which feels like a particularly useful skill these days.
The session is held at the Warren Branch, located at 9701 East 21st Street in Indianapolis. The branch is a 16,000-square-foot library serving Warren Township that opened in 1974. It closed for seven months after a fire in 1979 and later underwent a $1.1 million renovation that was completed in 2016. The whole series is made possible by The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
