Hands-on workshop for anyone new to smartphones or looking to get more comfortable with an Apple or Android device.
Get Smartphone Savvy is coming to the Michigan Road Branch on Friday, November 13, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. It's a hands-on workshop for anyone new to smartphones or just looking to get more comfortable with their Apple or Android device. The session is part of the Indianapolis Public Library's Senior Technology Lab / Tech Skills series, and it's made possible by the Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
The workshop starts with the tools and buttons that work much the same across most phones, so whether you're on an iPhone or a Samsung, you'll have a common starting point. From there, it moves into how to customize your device to fit your life. The topics covered include making and receiving calls, storage and memory options, adding and removing apps, and managing your contacts. There's also a look at custom and accessibility settings, which is where you can tweak things like text size or display options to make the phone easier to use.
Because it's a hands-on session, you'll be working with your own device rather than just watching a presentation. It's designed for people who might feel a bit overwhelmed by their phone or who just want to make sure they're using it the way they want to. If you've ever wondered why a certain setting is there or how to clean up your apps without breaking something, this is a good place to get those questions answered.
