Writing workshop with Leah McNaughton Lederman exploring the benefits of journaling for personal reflection and a writer's practice.
Leah McNaughton Lederman leads a journaling workshop at the Wayne Branch Library on Saturday, November 14, from 10 AM to 11 AM. The session is presented in partnership with the Indiana Writers Center and is aimed at adults.
It's a look at journaling from two angles: as a personal practice and as part of a writer's routine. Lederman walks through the benefits of keeping a journal on a personal level and how it fits into a broader writing practice, weighing different ways to approach the habit beyond just how it affects your mindset and perspective. If you've ever wondered whether to keep a private diary, a structured log, or something in between, this is a good place to sort through those options.
Lederman brings a fair amount of experience to the table. She's edited and published two volumes of Café Macabre: A Collection of Horror Stories and Art by Women (SourcePoint Press, 2019 and 2021) and the short story collection A Novel of Shorts: The Woman No One Sees (2020). Her creative nonfiction has appeared in The River, South Review, The Wrath-Bearing Tree, and Defenestration Mag, and her essay "My Bleeding Heart" earned a Pushcart Prize nomination. She also serves as Executive Director of the Midwest Writers Workshop.
