Monthly gathering of knitters, crocheters and fiber artists of all levels and ages at the Fort Ben Branch library.
The Fiber Art Club meets at the Fort Ben Branch library on Saturday, December 12, from 10 AM to 12 PM. It's a monthly gathering for knitters, crocheters, and fiber artists of all levels and ages, so whether you've been stitching for decades or you're still figuring out how to hold the needles, you'll fit right in. The whole point is just to bring your current project and work on it alongside other people who do the same thing.
If you're not familiar with the branch, the Fort Ben Branch is a 22,000-square-foot library at 9330 East 56th Street in Indianapolis. It's a high-traffic community spot with dedicated meeting spaces and study rooms, and it's the first library in Indiana to become a Certified Autism Center through the IBCCES. The building itself has a bit of a story: the land was decommissioned and passed from the U.S. military to the City of Indianapolis in the 1990s as part of a redevelopment plan, and the branch now sits on that site. It also runs on a rooftop solar photovoltaic system that provides 80% of the building's electricity.

Since the club is open to all ages and skill levels, it's as much about the company as it is about the crafting. You can spend the morning working on your own thing, chatting with other fiber artists, or maybe getting a second pair of eyes on a tricky pattern. It's a low-pressure way to get some work done on your project while hanging out with people who get the appeal of a long-term project. The meeting runs from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, December 12, at the Fort Ben Branch library, 9330 East 56th Street.
