Open drop-in craft session at the Haughville Branch where library staff walk through the monthly craft tutorial and answer questions.
Drop-in Craft is back at the Haughville Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Monday, October 26, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. It's a drop-in session open to all ages, so you can swing by for the whole time or just pop in for a bit. The format is simple: bring a creative project you're already working on and keep it going, or use the library's supplies to start something new from scratch. Library staff walk through the room to help out and answer questions as you go, and each month brings a new craft tutorial to try.
There's also some thoughtful setup for anyone who needs it. The room has fidget toys, noise-canceling headphones, and sunglasses available if you want them, so you can settle in and focus your own way. It's as much about the conversation and the company as it is about the making.
The session is in the community room at the Haughville Branch, 2121 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222. The branch itself has a long history in the city: it's the longest continuously operating branch in the Indianapolis Public Library system, having opened on the east side in 1896 before moving to the Haughville village after 1897. Over the years it's held a few different homes, including the former town hall on Georgia Avenue—which a 1904 fire partially destroyed—and later a storefront in the Michigan Plaza Shopping Center that served as the library until 2003, when the current 12,000-square-foot building opened on West Michigan Street.
