Hands-on science class for children ages 3 to 8 to experiment at exploration stations with a young scientist.
Curiosity Lab is back at the Fort Ben Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Friday, November 20, from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM. It's a hands-on science class for school-age children and preschoolers, aimed at ages 3 to 8, where kids experiment alongside a young scientist at stations that encourage exploration and build confidence. The whole thing is about letting them get their hands dirty with science rather than just watching from the sidelines.
The session is held at the Fort Ben Branch, a building of around 22,000 square feet that came about as part of a redevelopment plan after the land was decommissioned and passed from the U.S. military to the City of Indianapolis in the 1990s. It's a pretty sustainable spot, too—the rooftop solar photovoltaic system provides 80% of the building's electricity. The branch is also the first library in Indiana to become a Certified Autism Center, accredited by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards.
