Interactive workshop for seniors, educators and adults to learn Canva, from navigating the interface and using templates to the essentials of visual design.
Create with Canva - Learn, Design, & Create! is coming to the Franklin Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Sunday, November 15, from 1 PM to 3 PM. It's an interactive workshop built for beginners, so if you've never touched a design program before, you're exactly who this is for.
Canva is a digital design tool aimed at people who aren't professional designers, and the session is set up to get you comfortable with it from the ground up. You'll start by navigating the interface and then move into exploring templates for social media, business materials, invitations, and personal projects. The workshop also covers the basics of visual design—how to arrange elements, choose colors, pair fonts, and create balance—so you'll walk away with a better sense of why some things look right and others don't. Once you've got something finished, they'll show you the easiest ways to share it, whether you're printing at home, posting online, or using Canva's optional paid print services.

It's a hands-on session, so you'll need a free Canva account to take part. The workshop is aimed at seniors, educators, and adults, and it's held at the Franklin Road Branch, located at 5550 South Franklin Road in Indianapolis. The current 18,000-square-foot branch replaced the Wanamaker Branch back in 2000 to keep up with the growth of Franklin Township, so there's plenty of room to get settled in. The class runs from 1 PM to 3 PM on Sunday, November 15.
