Chair yoga health and wellness class for seniors and adults, focusing on breathing, heart rate, mental focus and relaxation, presented by the Jordan YMCA.
The Jordan YMCA is bringing a chair yoga session to the Nora Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Tuesday, October 27, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. It's set up as a health and wellness class for seniors and adults, so it's built around accessibility rather than getting down on a mat. The focus is on breathing techniques and improving heart rate, mental focus, and relaxation.
If you've never done chair yoga, the idea is pretty straightforward: you do the movements while seated, which makes it a good entry point if you're not used to yoga or if getting on and off the floor isn't for you. The class is presented by the Jordan YMCA, and it runs for a full hour.
The Nora Branch is at 8625 Guilford Avenue, on the north side of the city. It's been a part of the neighborhood for a whileโit opened in 1971 on North Guilford Avenue after the library received a 2.56-acre lot donation from Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Eiteljorg in 1968. The current building replaced an earlier location and was expanded to 18,500 square feet in 1990.

One thing to keep in mind before you head over: the session is currently full, though there is a waitlist available if you'd like to put your name down. It runs from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Tuesday, October 27, at the Nora Branch.
