Small-group self-care workshop led by Brittany Wayman of Soul Care Coaching to practice simple grounding exercises and reset when life feels overwhelming.
Catch your Breath: Grounding Practices comes to the Nora Branch on Friday, November 13, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. It's a self-care workshop led by Brittany Wayman of Soul Care Coaching, and the whole thing is built around the idea of slowing down and exhaling when the demands of daily life start to pile up.
During the session, you'll reflect on and practice simple grounding exercises—the kind of small, concrete tools you can actually use in the middle of a busy day rather than just talking about them. The goal is to walk away with practical ways to reset when things feel overwhelming. It's aimed at seniors and adults, and because it's a small group, it should feel more like a conversation than a lecture.
If you're interested in keeping the momentum going after the workshop, there's a Bibliocommons list of staff-recommended books and resources on wellness and rest to dig into. Some of the titles included are Empowered Wellness: Black Health & Healing, Mindfulness, Self Care, and Life Kit, You are Worth It: Rest as a Form of Resistance, and BIG FEELINGS. It's a good way to find more reading on the same themes if the session hits home.
