Three-hour ink and watercolor workshop for all skill levels at the Indy Art Center, with materials provided.
ASAP Ink & Watercolors is a three-hour ink and watercolor workshop at the Indy Art Center on Wednesday, October 21. It's open to all levels, so you don't need to be an experienced painter to sign upโit works as well for someone who hasn't picked up a brush in years as it does for someone who paints every weekend. The materials are provided, which is a nice touch: you just show up and get to work without having to worry about buying your own paints, brushes, or paper beforehand.
Working with ink and watercolor together lets you play with two different kinds of line and color. Ink gives you the sharp, defined edges, and watercolor lets you bleed and blend around them. Over three hours, there's enough time to actually get into the flow of it rather than rushing through a single project. If you've never tried the two together, this is a low-stakes way to see how they work side by side.
The workshop is held at the Indy Art Center in Indianapolis. The center has been around since 1934, when it started as a Works Progress Administration project during the Great Depression. Since then, it's grown into one of the city's most active arts communities, known for keeping art accessible to everyone. It hosts a wide range of exhibitions and events, including the International Photography Hall of Fame Collection Exhibition and the #EverybodysArt initiative, so it's a place that welcomes people from all over the city, not just professional artists.
