A family-friendly Halloween activity where visitors receive an Art or Treat bag and trick-or-treat along a treat trail through the Garden at Newfields.
Art or Treat is happening at Newfields on October 15 and 16, the family-friendly night of the broader Harvest Nights season. It's the seventh year Newfields has run this outdoor walking experience across the art and nature campus, and they describe it as spooky, not scary. When you arrive, you get an Art or Treat bag and trick-or-treat along a trail through the Garden, which closes at 10 PM. Costumes are encouraged, though full face masks aren't allowed, and tents marked with a Teal Pumpkin offer allergen-friendly options.
Art or Treat is just one part of the full Harvest Nights season, which runs from September 25 to November 1. The grounds are filled with fifty enormous handmade mushrooms in the Fungi Forest, a ghost train under the Pumpkin Path of Peril, and Garden Monsters inspired by Felicia Feaster's The Goth Garden. Lilly House is dressed in Halloween decorations, jack-o-lantern sculptures, and an interactive shadow show. There are also Ghouls Night Out and Spooky Screenings as part of the wider program.

If you're hungry while you're out there, the seasonal bites include vampire fries with parmesan and garlic, cream-filled churros, and Pumpkin Ale. Art or Treat is included with your Harvest Nights ticket, so you can do the trick-or-treating and then stick around for the rest of the installations. Entry is through the Efroymson Entrance Pavilion. Harvest Nights tickets start at $25, with dynamic pricing by date and members getting the lowest price; kids five and under are free, and there's a $2 processing fee per paid ticket.
