Second annual Houston festival of lights with free wellness and dance classes, performances, a market with henna artists and a rooftop party.
HTX Diwali returns to POST Houston on Saturday, October 24, for its second annual run. It's Houston's citywide festival of lights, and this year it takes over the heart of downtown for a full day of celebrating the holiday. The whole thing is presented by Tx2 Dance Company and POST Houston.
Diwali is the festival of lights, and the theme this year is "Shine Your Light Over Houston." The holiday celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and the power of community, joy, and renewal, and the day is built around that idea of new beginnings. It's a big, open celebration, so you can drop in for one thing or hang out for the whole day.
The program runs from morning to night. There are free wellness and dance classes throughout the day, and the stage will have performances going on. There's a market with henna artists, and the day wraps up with a terrace party under the stars on the rooftop. Festive attire is encouraged, so if you've got something bright or traditional you've been waiting for an excuse to wear, this is it.

It's a long haul—11 AM to 11 PM—so you can make a morning of the classes and the market and stay through the rooftop party. POST Houston is in downtown, and the whole day is presented by Tx2 Dance Company and POST Houston.
