A vibrant festival celebrating Asian cultures with authentic street food, cultural performances, artisan vendors and family-friendly activities.
Taste Asia returns to the Waterfront Salter Lot from Thursday 10 September to Sunday 13 September, four days of street food, performances and artisan vendors on the Halifax waterfront. It's a celebration of the Asian communities in Nova Scotia and beyond, with programming drawn from more than ten different Asian cultures. The food is the main draw — authentic street food from across the continent — but there are also cultural performances, artisan vendors, interactive demonstrations and family-friendly activities to work around.
Two of the festival's hallmarks are back this year. The Demo Kitchen brings together local chefs of all backgrounds for an Asian-inspired cooking challenge, where they share their own twists on traditional flavours. The Game Zone features carnival games that raise money for the IWK Foundation's Children's Services Fund, so the games double as a fundraiser for the hospital. There's also a range of artisan vendors selling their work throughout the site.
New for 2026 is the Garrison Refreshment Station, an open-licence beer garden run by Garrison Brewing for guests aged 19 and over. It's a good spot to take a break between the food stalls and the performances, and it gives you a place to sit with a drink while the rest of the festival carries on around you.
