A family-friendly festival dedicated to birdwatching, conservation, and nature appreciation with exhibits, presentations, and local vendors.
The Halifax Bird Festival & Market takes over the Halifax Brewery Market on Friday 9 October, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It's a family-friendly afternoon dedicated to birdwatching, conservation, education and nature appreciation, and it's free to attend.
The festival celebrates Nova Scotia's birds by bringing together a marketplace of local artisans, wildlife organisations and bird-themed vendors. Alongside the stalls, there are interactive exhibits, presentations and activities led by experts, so you can spend as much time browsing the market as you do learning about the birds. The all-ages format means it's just as much about the market as it is about the birds, and it's set up for families to walk through together.
Three local groups are presenting the event: Bird-Friendly Halifax, Nature Nova Scotia and Patagonia Halifax. The focus stays on Nova Scotia's birds, with the marketplace and the educational side running side by side.
