A full day of storytelling, literacy activities, cultural performances, arts, food and heritage experiences for local families.
The Nova Noble Cause Society is putting on the Family Literacy & Heritage Fest at the Maritime Hall in the Halifax Forum on Sunday, September 20, 2026. It's a full day built around storytelling and literacy activities, with cultural performances, arts, food and heritage experiences running alongside them. The whole thing is pitched as a family-friendly gathering, so it's the kind of day you can bring the kids to and just drift between the different things going on.
Storytelling is the core of it, and the literacy activities are woven in around that. The cultural performances bring in a mix of different traditions, and the arts and heritage experiences give you something to do with your hands rather than just watching. There's food and refreshments on site, too, so you can make a proper day of it without having to leave for a meal. It's designed as a one-stop shop for a Sunday afternoon with the family.
