Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer

Canada Walks for Bladder Cancer returns to Point Pleasant Park on Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. It's the 16th annual edition of the walk, which is run by Bladder Cancer Canada as a national fundraising event. The Halifax leg takes place at the Point Pleasant Park Lower Lot on Sailors Memorial Way, and it's one of several walks happening across the country on the same day, with other communities including Belleville, Calgary, Edmonton, London, Montreal, Toronto and Quebec City.

The day brings together survivors, patients, families, healthcare advocates and community supporters, and the organisers describe it as one of hope and celebration. Every kilometre walked and every dollar raised goes toward free nationwide support programmes for patients and families, raising awareness about early detection and funding made-in-Canada research to improve treatments and outcomes. It's a cause that hits closer to home than you might think: bladder cancer is the fifth most common cancer in Canada.

Registration is C$25, but there are a couple of ways to bring that down.
