Weekly Sunday session of mixed-gender Touch Rugby played by The Glasgow Chickens on Glasgow Green, open to all ages and ability levels.
The Glasgow Chickens run a mixed-gender touch rugby club that meets every Sunday morning at Glasgow Green, and they're open to anyone who fancies getting involved. If you've never played, touch rugby is a lot like rugby league but without the kicking, the tackling, and the contact — which is exactly why it's a game anyone can pick up, regardless of whether you've ever stepped onto a pitch before.
The club is open to all ages and ability levels, from absolute beginners to players who've been selected to play nationally. They field three teams for league: the mixed team, The Chickens; the ladies' team, The Hems; and the men's team, The Cocks. The Sunday sessions run for an hour and a half and always finish with a game, and the group often heads off for a drink or a coffee afterwards. Beyond the Sunday mornings on the Green, they also meet in Stepps on Tuesday evenings and run social events throughout the year.
