Olivier Award-winning comedy adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, in which men, money and microphones are fought over.
Pride & Prejudice (sort of) comes to the Pavilion Theatre from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th April 2027, a five-night run in Glasgow. It's a retelling of Jane Austen's most famous love story, though the asterisk in the title gives you a fair idea of where it's heading. The production is billed as an irreverent but affectionate adaptation in which men, money and microphones are fought over, and it weaves pop classics into the story rather than sticking to a traditional period score.
It's a comedy that doesn't take the source material too seriously, though it keeps the core of the original. The pop songs are part of the storytelling, not just a backdrop, and the whole thing is built around the same love story you know, just told with a very different energy. It's the kind of show that works as well if you've read the book as it does if you've only seen the films.
Before it makes its way to the Pavilion, the production won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy in the West End, so it's arriving with some proper recognition behind it. That's the same show that'll be on the Glasgow stage for those five nights in April.
