A Halloween-themed crafting workshop and torchlight tour of spooky paintings at the Glasgow Museums Resource Centre, suitable for families with children aged 5 to 12.
Nights, Frights and Bites is on at the Glasgow Museums Resource Centre on Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 October, with sessions from 10:30 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 15:00 on both days. It's part of 'October Week at GMRC', the run of events that kicks off the spooky season at the Resource Centre.
The session brings together two things that don't usually sit in the same room: a Halloween-themed crafting workshop and a torchlight tour of the gallery's scariest paintings. The tour is the part that really sets the scene — you'll be walking through the gallery with a torch in hand, and you'll be wearing your own vampire cloak while you do it. It's a family activity, aimed at children aged 5 to 12, so it's one to bring the younger ones along to.
To get a sense of where you'll be, the Glasgow Museums Resource Centre is a bit of a hidden gem. It houses more than a million treasures from the city's collections, and it runs regular Behind the Scenes Tours that let you see what's usually tucked away from public view. This session is one of those rare chances to get inside and see the collection up close.
