A specialist tour led by curator Katie Bruce exploring modern and contemporary art works on activism and photography for World Aids Day.
Glasgow Museums Resource Centre is hosting a specialist tour on Tuesday 1 December, timed to mark World Aids Day. It's led by producer and curator Katie Bruce, who'll take a small group through the museum's modern and contemporary art collection.
The tour focuses on works that document key activism and photographic campaigns surrounding HIV and AIDS, from the early days up to the present. It's a look at how artists and photographers have worked with the subject over several decades, so you'll see a range of pieces rather than just one era. Because it's a curated walk through the collection, you'll get the context behind the works as you go, rather than just seeing them on a wall.
It's worth keeping in mind that this is at the Resource Centre, not one of the city's main public galleries, so it's a bit of a different experience from a standard museum visit. The tour runs at 2:30pm on the day, and it's free to join, though places are strictly limited to ten people and need to be booked in advance. If you're interested, it's best to get your name down early.
