A guided walking tour tracing the history of Glasgow's folk and roots music scenes, with indoor stops for refreshments.
The Merchant City Trad Trail kicks off at the Scottish Music Centre on Saturday 30 January, a guided walking tour through the folk and roots music of Glasgow. It's run by Glasgow Music City Tours, who put it together specifically for Celtic Connections, so it sits right in the middle of the festival's wider programme.
The tour traces the story of the city's folk and roots scenes from their early beginnings right up to this year's festival. You'll follow some of Glasgow's oldest streets, with expert guides sharing tales of the songwriters and storytellers who've shaped the city's folk culture along the way. It's not all walking, though: there are several indoor stops built in, where you can warm up with a coffee or something stronger before heading back out.

It runs for around two hours, so it's a decent afternoon's outing rather than a quick stroll. The starting point is the Scottish Music Centre, part of the City Halls on Candleriggs in G1. Tickets are £21.84, which includes the booking fee, and it's for ages 18 and over. The tour starts at 2:00pm on Saturday 30 January.
