Matt Mathews brings his unfiltered comedy about family chaos, farm life and everyday struggles to the stage in his new tour.
Matt Mathews brings his new tour, Not What I Ordered, to The Pavilion Theatre on Tuesday 23 March 2027. It's a solo stand-up show, and the title gives you a fair idea of where it's heading: the things that go wrong when life doesn't quite pan out the way you'd hoped.
Mathews builds the set around the unfiltered stories he's known for, and this one pulls from a few different corners of his life. There's the wild family chaos, the disasters of farm life, and the awkward encounters that come with small-town drama. He weaves in relationships, fame, and the everyday struggles that most of us recognise, all told with the brutally honest humour that's become his trademark. It's not a polished, carefully curated version of things; it's the unvarnished account of the messiness that happens behind the scenes.
Underneath the jokes, there's a bit of a thread running through it: the reality of chasing your dreams while trying to hold everything else together. He describes the show as equal parts hilarious, heartfelt and outrageously relatable, and that's a good way to put it. It's as much about the things that don't go to plan as it is about the laughs that come from them, so it should land well with anyone who's ever felt like they're just winging it.
