A full orchestra performs the soundtrack of the rom-com Love Actually live to screen at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Love Actually in Concert comes to The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Monday 30 November, with a full orchestra performing the film's soundtrack live to screen. It's presented by JOY and ATC Live, and the music is Craig Armstrong's score, played in the room while the film rolls.
If you've seen Love Actually before, you know the setup. Set in contemporary London in the weeks before Christmas, it weaves together a dozen love stories—some romantic, some sad, some funny—and carries them with an all-star ensemble. Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Bill Nighy, Martine McCutcheon, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Rowan Atkinson and Martin Freeman all have their parts. The live-to-screen format lets you hear the score as it was written, with the orchestra playing along as the images run.
One thing to keep in mind before you book: the screening is rated 15 by the BBFC for strong sex and language, so it's not one for the younger ones. The orchestra takes care of the music, and the film handles the rest.
