José González performs his new album 'Against The Dying Of The Light' as part of the Celtic Connections festival.
José González plays the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday 27 January 2027, as part of Celtic Connections. The Swedish folk singer-songwriter is touring his new album, Against The Dying Of The Light, and the set will draw from that alongside songs from across his career.
González is known for working alone on stage, with just his voice and his guitar. He's built a reputation for making a lot out of very little, moving between hushed intimacy and a fuller, more textured sound held together by intricate rhythms and dynamic shifts. Even on his own, he manages to create a sense of scale and depth that makes a room feel larger than it is, and he's spent years selling out concert halls and theatres around the world.
Coming from Gothenburg, he's widely regarded as one of the most captivating live performers in contemporary music, and this Glasgow date fits into the wider Celtic Connections programme. The set will lean on Against The Dying Of The Light, but he'll be reaching back into his older records too, so you'll hear the new material alongside songs from earlier in his career.
