Jonathan Pie brings his brand-new live show to The Pavilion Theatre, featuring the satirical news character created by Tom Walker.
Jonathan Pie is coming to The Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 7 November, with his brand-new live show The End Of The World According To Jonathan Pie.
If you've come across him online, you'll know the character: the UK's angriest news reporter, a spoof created by actor Tom Walker back in September 2015. He first went viral after he famously 'lost it' outside the Houses of Parliament, and the unguarded, off-camera rants that followed have been viewed by millions worldwide. The character is written by Walker and comedian Andrew Doyle, who have been collaborating since December 2015. Since those first clips, Pie has moved beyond the internet and into live shows, television, and radio, as well as weekly online videos. One of his responses to the US election result gathered more than 130 million views.
This is a new live show, so it's a chance to see him in the flesh rather than through a screen. The character is built on that same energyโthe news reporter who can't quite keep his professional mask on and ends up saying exactly what he thinks about the state of the world. It's that particular brand of political frustration that's made him such a hit, and seeing it live is a different thing from watching a clip on your phone.
