Jason Byrne returns with '30 Years Byrning', a brand-new stand-up show marking three decades at the top of his game, featuring high-energy storytelling and audience interaction.
Jason Byrne is back at The Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 15 November, with a brand-new stand-up show called 30 Years Byrning. The title does exactly what it says on the tin: it marks three decades of him doing this for a living, and he's built the whole thing around that milestone.
If you've seen him before, you know the general shape of a Byrne set. He's known for high-energy storytelling that tends to veer off into surreal tangents, razor-sharp observations, and a fearless, often unhinged approach to audience interaction and improvisation. He's a festival favourite, and that's a reputation he's spent thirty years building. The Times called him 'the outright king of live comedy', and he's played stages all over the world, so this is a performer who knows how to work a room.
What makes 30 Years Byrning a bit different from a standard new show is how it looks back. He's bringing back props and stunts from previous decades, so you'll see some of the older bits that made his earlier work what it was, alongside a leap forward into new material. It's a bit of a retrospective and a new start in one go, rather than one or the other.
