James Gardner brings his show Allocation on Arrival to The Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 21 March 2027, as part of the Glasgow Comedy Festival. He's a Scottish comedian who works as a storyteller, and this is his latest run.
Gardner describes the show as a comic journey from Summerston to Safari, navigating the nineties and the noughties along the way. He works his way through the trifecta of football, politics and religion, so if those are the things you usually argue about over a pint, you'll recognise the ground he's covering. It's a storyteller's set, which means the evening is built around the tales he tells rather than a sequence of one-liners.
The Pavilion is a city-centre variety theatre that opened in 1904 as a music hall. It's still got its Edwardian-style faรงade, a grand entrance foyer with a marble staircase and stained-glass windows, and an auditorium with ornate plasterwork and a proscenium-arch stage. With a seating capacity of around 1,450, it's one of the city's largest entertainment venues and has hosted names like Laurel and Hardy, Judy Garland and Morecambe and Wise.

Gardner's show runs at 4pm on Sunday 21 March, so it's a matinee rather than an evening slot. It's part of the Glasgow Comedy Festival, and you'll find it at The Pavilion Theatre in the city centre.
