A fun puppet show with master puppeteer Clive Chandler, delighting children and adults, with a pre-show craft activity.
Clive Chandler brings Jack and the Beanstalk to the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre on Sunday 15 November, with two shows that day: one at 11am and another at 2pm. It's a puppet production of the old fairy tale, and Chandler's shadow-puppet work has become a signature of the Centre, so this is very much in his wheelhouse.
If you've never been, the Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre is tucked away in Glasgow's West End at 8-10 Balcarres Avenue. It's a theatre, museum and education unit all in one, with 80 seats, an extensive mask and puppet library and archive, permanent exhibition areas, a mask studio and a marionette carving workshop. It runs a regular family Saturday Show programme from September through June and hosts touring exhibitions like The Magic of Masks & Puppets and Behind The Mask. Chandler is a Glasgow puppeteer and performer, and this production is built around a pre-show craft activity in the cafe, where colour-in and cut-out puppets and masks are made. The venue's shop also stocks Jack and the Beanstalk story sets and puppet-making kits, so there's plenty to get stuck into before the show starts.

On stage, the production draws audiences in with vibrant visuals, engaging storytelling and humorous antics that appeal to children and adults alike. It's the kind of thing that works as well for the little ones as it does for the grown-ups in the room. Tickets are £7.50 to £7.95, and with the 11am and 2pm slots, you can pick whichever fits your day best.
