German synthpop and darkwave act Chrom headline Ivory Blacks, with support from Promenade Cinema.
Chrom play Ivory Blacks on Thursday 21 January, with support from Promenade Cinema. It's a German synthpop and darkwave bill, so if you're into electronic music that leans more towards the dancefloor than the lounge, this is one for you.
Chrom formed in May 2007 when Christian Marquis and Thomas Winters discovered they shared a love for solid, club-compatible electro that didn't sacrifice melody. The name is a simple combination of the first letters of their names: CHRis and tOM. Their sound sits at the intersection of synthpop, EBM and club-electro, built on massive beats, powerful bass and ultra-catchy melodies. It's music that works as well on a loud system as it does in headphones.
Opening for them is Promenade Cinema, a modern British electronic duo who describe their style as 'cinedramatic synthpop' and 'danceable darkwave'. They draw on the electronic music pioneers of the 70s and 80s, and they bring in dramatic film scores as a reference, so their set should fit right in with the headliners.
