Bloc Party and Interpol perform live in concert at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
Bloc Party and Interpol are playing together at the OVO Hydro on Wednesday 2 December, two bands from the same era sharing one bill. It's a double header that puts them on the same stage rather than one opening for the other, so you get two full sets in one night.
Bloc Party have been around since the early 2000s, and their sound has shifted quite a bit over the years. They started with the jagged, dancey indie rock of Silent Alarm and A Weekend in the City, then moved into the more expansive, textured territory of Four and The Open Door. If you've followed them from the start, you'll recognise the early songs, but they've spent the last decade building something quite different from where they began.
Interpol come from a different place entirely. Their sound is built on interlocking guitar lines and Paul Banks' distinctive, low-register vocals, and they've stayed closer to that mood throughout their career. From the stark, moody atmosphere of Turn on the Bright Lights through to their more recent work, they've kept a consistent thread running through their records. Putting them on the same bill brings together two bands that both emerged from the indie scene of the early 2000s but took very different paths.
