Scotland's top Siouxsie and the Banshees tribute act returns to Ivory Blacks with a night of post-punk classics.
Lizzie & The Banshees are back at Ivory Blacks on Sunday 27 December, their first Glasgow date since their last run through the city. They're a tribute to Siouxsie and the Banshees, and they've been touring the UK and Europe since 2012, playing the 100 Club in London and dates in Cologne, Essen, Rouen and Hamburg. The Glasgow night is presented by Stigmata Promotions.
Their set focuses on the Scream to Tinderbox era, so you'll hear 'Spellbound', 'Arabian Knights', 'Christine', 'Dear Prudence', 'Hong Kong Garden', 'Happy House' and 'Cities in Dust'. It's a good stretch of the Banshees' catalogue to pull from, and they describe themselves as the UK's premier and most authentic band of the original group's sound, look and feel.
For a bit of context, Siouxsie and the Banshees formed in London in 1976 around vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and bassist Steven Severin. They grew into one of the longest-lived and most successful acts of the London punk scene, eventually moving into a post-punk style of rhythmic and sonic experimentation that The Times called one of the most audacious and uncompromising of the era. That's the sound Lizzie & The Banshees are working with here.
