Friendly conversation session from the Leith Conversation Cafes project, open to newcomers and locals to meet people and share stories.
McDonald Road Library in Leith is hosting a conversation session on Wednesday 21 October, starting at 17:30. The question on the table this time is What would make you say, I've had a good life? — the kind of thing that's easy to think about in the quiet, but takes a bit more work when you're actually talking it through with other people.
It's part of the Leith Conversation Cafes, a project that runs two friendly conversation groups every week. The sessions are open to people who've moved to Edinburgh from overseas as well as to locals, and they're gently structured so that everyone gets a chance to speak and be heard. The whole point is to help people meet new faces, pick up language skills, swap stories and experiences, gain new insights, build friendships, learn about the local area, and feel more at home in Leith and Edinburgh.
That means the conversations are open to newcomers, to people who've been here a while, and to local residents who want to meet people from different cultures. Whether you've just arrived in the city or you've lived here your whole life, you're as welcome as anyone else. It's a low-pressure way to spend an evening, and if you're still finding your feet in the city, it's a good place to start.
