Weekly drop-in night of Salsa and Bachata classes followed by a dance party hosted by The Pear Tree, with no partner or experience required.
The Pear Tree is back at The Counting House on Wednesday 4 November, part of their weekly run of salsa and bachata nights in the city. It's a long evening that starts with classes from 19:00 to 21:00, followed by a party that runs from 21:30 until midnight.
The night is built around two separate rooms, one 100% salsa and the other 100% bachata, with multiple teachers running sessions across the evening so you can move between levels and styles. On the decks are DJ Ami and DJ Orlando, and the teaching is handled by Ami, Yana, Louise, Matias, Marina, Jose and Elena. You don't need a partner or any previous experience to join in.
The Pear Tree is a dance community that runs these sessions at The Counting House, a historic Old Town pub and music venue dating back to the 19th century, known for its traditional Scottish atmosphere and a capacity of around 80. The whole thing is run by Latin Dance Edinburgh, a community that puts on the nights out of love for the music and the dance. Beyond these Wednesday nights, they also run free salsa, bachata, merengue and reggaeton sessions across different venues and outdoors in the summer, and they keep followers updated through WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
