Weekly Tuesday evening mindfulness sangha for people in their 20s and 30s, with meditation, mindful tea drinking, dharma sharing and walking meditation.
Wake Up Edinburgh meets at The Salisbury Centre on Tuesday 27 October, starting at 18:30. It's a community sangha for practitioners in their 20s and 30s, and this is one of their regular Tuesday evening sessions. The group is part of the wider Global Wake Up Movement, which describes its aim as helping a world overloaded with intolerance, discrimination, craving, anger and despair.
The sessions draw on the Plum Village Tradition and the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. The evening centres on meditation, mindful tea drinking, dharma sharing, deep listening and compassionate living, with walking meditation and singing also among the group's favourite practices. It's open to everyone regardless of prior meditation experience or personal belief system, and the sangha describes itself as queer and disabled friendly.
Beyond the Tuesday nights, the Edinburgh group also gathers for potlucks, picnics, hiking and creative activities. Their home at the Salisbury Centre has a small meditation room with cushions and stools, calligraphy by Thay and a garden of fruit trees, squirrels and flowers in summer.

It's free to attend, though donations are welcomed to help cover the venue costs — the group calls this 'dana', the Buddhist practice of giving. The session runs on Tuesday 27 October from 18:30 at The Salisbury Centre, 2 Salisbury Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5AB.
