An evening of Les Misérables songs and numbers from other great musicals by three West End stars who have played Jean Valjean, led by John Owen-Jones.
Voices Of Valjean comes to The Assembly Rooms on Friday 27 November, one stop on its UK and Ireland tour. It's an evening of musical theatre built around three West End stars who have each played Jean Valjean in Les Misérables: John Owen-Jones, Joseph Anthony, and Brad Barnley, backed by a full live band.
John Owen-Jones is the name most of you will recognise. He remains the youngest actor in West End history to have played Valjean, and he's staged the role on Broadway as well. He's just as known for The Phantom of the Opera, which he's performed nearly 2,000 times, holding the record for the most performances as the Phantom in the West End. He's joined here by Anthony and Barnley, so you've got three different takes on the same role sharing one stage.
The set pairs their voices with the score of Les Misérables and showstopping numbers from other great musicals, including Miss Saigon, Chess, The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story and Jesus Christ Superstar. With a full live band behind them, it's a night of powerhouse vocals rather than a full production.
