Reginald Rose's gripping courtroom thriller returns to the stage at the King's Theatre following record-breaking West End seasons.
Twelve Angry Men is coming to the King's Theatre from Tuesday 20 to Saturday 24 April 2027. It's Reginald Rose's courtroom thriller, and it arrives in Edinburgh after record-breaking seasons in the West End, so it's a production that's already had a proper run in London before heading north.
If you're not familiar with the story, it's a chamber piece in the truest sense: twelve jurors locked in a room, tasked with deciding a young man's fate. The whole thing plays out in real time, and the tension comes from the way those twelve very different people start to pick each other apart. It's a play that lives or dies on the acting and the writing, and this version is the one that's been doing the numbers in the West End.
It's also a good chance to see the King's Theatre in its current form. Run by Capital Theatres, it's one of the city's most cherished cultural landmarks, and it's spent years as a home for touring drama, children's shows and Scotland's number one panto. It reopened in 2026 after redevelopment work that kept its historic character but modernised the facilities: better accessibility, redesigned hospitality spaces, a new level stage and upgraded technical equipment. That last bit is what's paving the way for larger and more ambitious productions like this one.
