A chilling theatrical adaptation of Shirley Jackson's classic ghost story, adapted for the stage by Stef Smith and directed by Martin Constantine.
The Haunting of Hill House opens at The Royal Lyceum on Tuesday 10 November, running through to Saturday 14 November. It's a stage adaptation of Shirley Jackson's classic ghost story, the one Stephen King once called a 'near perfect' ghost story and that's widely seen as one of the greatest works of supernatural fiction. If that doesn't ring a bell, you've probably come across the Netflix series it inspired.
The story follows a group of investigators whose curiosity turns to fear as they uncover the house's secrets. It's a new production, adapted for the stage by Olivier and BAFTA winner Stef Smith and directed by Sky Arts Award winner Martin Constantine. Critics have called it 'the definitive haunted house story' and 'a gripping new production that blurs the line between heart-thumping suspense and the supernatural'.
On stage, Jasper Britton plays Dr Montague, with Jemma Churchill as Mrs Montague, Sian Howard as Mrs Dudley, Sophie Lenglinger as Theodora, Robin Morrissey as Luke and Clancy Ryan as Eleanor. The Edinburgh run closes the show's UK tour, which also stopped at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, Theatre Royal Brighton, Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse and Mold Theatr Clwyd.
