International chamber music trio Trio Bohémo plays Beethoven, Josef Suk and Schubert in the piano trio repertoire at The Queen's Hall.
Trio Bohémo play The Queen's Hall on Monday 15 March 2027, as part of the New Town Concerts 2026/27 series. They've come up fast on the international chamber music scene, picking up a fair few prestigious awards in just five years.
The programme sticks to the piano trio repertoire, and it's a broad one. They open with Beethoven's Piano Trio in C minor Op 1 No 3, an early work that his teacher Joseph Haydn reportedly thought was too advanced for the public. Then comes Josef Suk's Elegy for Piano Trio Op 23, a deeply lyrical piece, followed by Jan Vičar's Cycle of Folk Songs 'From Moravia'. The night closes with Schubert's Piano Trio No 3 in E flat major D929, a monumental work known for its expansive structures and a haunting slow movement.
It's a long evening of music, and the venue is one you'll likely know. The Queen's Hall is a 900-capacity room on Clerk Street that opened in 1823 as Hope Park Chapel before being converted into a concert hall in 1979 and formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 6 July that year. These days it stages everything from classical and jazz to pop, rock, folk and comedy, and hosts Edinburgh's summer festival season.
