Poetry evening celebrating the launch of Tremble, the debut collection by Fatema Abdoolcarim, with Alycia Pirmohamed at Typewronger Books.
Fatema Abdoolcarim and Alycia Pirmohamed are at Typewronger Books on Wednesday 18 November, from 7pm to 9pm. The evening celebrates the launch of Tremble, Abdoolcarim's debut poetry collection, published by Monitor in 2025. She's joined by Pirmohamed, who has written Another Way to Split Water (Polygon, 2022) and Shorelines (Canongate, 2026), with a second collection, Then the Lake Shifts, still to come.
Abdoolcarim is an Indian-Pakistani Hong Konger who makes films and writes. Her work has been shown internationally, including at the Locarno Film Festival, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Osaka Asian Film Festival; she now lives on the island of Bornholm. Pirmohamed's two published collections, Another Way to Split Water and Shorelines, mark her as an established voice in Scottish poetry, and Then the Lake Shifts will be her second collection of poems.
