A family workshop at Lauriston Castle inspired by the Treasures of Tutankhamun exhibition, part of the castle's programme of talks, creative workshops and family activities.
Treasures Of Tutankhamun is a family workshop at Lauriston Castle on Saturday 7 November, and it's exactly what it sounds like: a morning spent immersing yourself in Ancient Egypt. It's part of the castle's wider programme of talks, creative workshops, film screenings and family fun activities, so it fits right in with the kind of things they've been putting on lately.
If you're not familiar with the venue, Lauriston Castle is a 16th-century tower house with Victorian extensions and early 20th-century interiors, set in gardens that open with views across the Firth of Forth. The house and grounds hold a group of diverse collections bequeathed to the city by the castle's last residents, and the gardens are free to enter all year round. The castle itself opens at set times via guided tour, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're planning to make a full day of it.

The workshop takes place on Saturday 7 November, and the focus is on the treasures of Tutankhamun, the boy pharaoh whose tomb was discovered in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. It's designed as a family activity, so it's one of those things you can bring the kids along to and get stuck into together. The castle is at 2A Cramond Road South, Edinburgh West EH4 6AD, and since the gardens are always open, you can easily wander around before or after the session.
