Transmission, the UK's number one Joy Division tribute act, recreates the dark sound of Joy Division at The Voodoo Rooms.
Transmission are back at The Voodoo Rooms on Sunday 6 December, returning to the venue to relive the dark sound of Joy Division. They're billed as the UK's number one Joy Division tribute act, and they describe their work as being devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig and emulating the group's sound. The original Joy Division formed in the late 1970s and dissolved in May 1980 following the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis; the remaining members went on to form New Order. Regarded as the pioneering act of the post-punk movement of the late seventies and early eighties, they were among the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era.
Transmission don't just stick to the tribute side of things, though. They've also produced Above Bergen, an alternative deep dive into love, loss and life that they describe as seventeen years in the making. It's a piece of their own work that sits alongside the Joy Division material they're known for, so the night draws on both the songs they're recreating and the record they've built themselves.
