The Portobello Comedy Night

The Portobello Comedy Night returns to the Beach Lane Social Club on Friday 6 November, billed as the final Porty comedy spectacular of 2026. It's a Momentum Entertainment night, staged by the sea at a beachside venue with cheap drinks and a lively atmosphere, and it's for over-18s.

Headlining is Billy Kirkwood, who's picked up praise from Skinny Magazine, Metro, The Scotsman and The List. Skinny says he packs more punchlines into twenty minutes than most comics do in an hour, while The Scotsman calls him 'unspeakably juvenile'. Supporting him is Chris Thorburn, a regular with an award-winning comedy improv troupe and a face from BBC's The Now Show, Breaking The News and Scot Squad.

The night also draws on a few local cult figures. Steven Davidson, known as the 'Joppa Superstar', is back for another of his last-ever gig comebacks, and Richard Pulsford is on the bill — he won the Leicester Comedy Festival's UK Pun Championships in 2022 and was runner-up for Scottish Comedian of the Year in 2021. Guest Thirsty Campbell joins them, described as a 'terrible poet'. Davidson will be MCing the evening.

It runs from 8pm to 11:15pm, with doors opening at 7:15pm, at the Beach Lane Social Club, 7-9 Figgate Street, Portobello, Edinburgh EH15 1HL. Tickets are £18.04.
