The Fratellis headline the Night Afore party at West Princes Street Gardens on 30 December, their first Edinburgh Hogmanay show. The Glasgow indie-rock trio are playing beneath Edinburgh Castle, and the night is set to kick-start the 2026 Hogmanay celebrations.
It's a bit of a milestone for them. The set marks 20 years since their debut album, Costello Music, came out in September 2006. That record sold over a million copies and earned them a BRIT Award, and it's where songs like 'Chelsea Dagger', 'Whistle for the Choir' and 'Henrietta' come from. The band say they hold Edinburgh close to their hearts, so it's fitting they're celebrating that anniversary here.
They've come a long way since those early days. After reforming in 2012, they put out five more albums, including 2021's Half Drunk Under A Full Moon, and played festivals like Glastonbury and TRNSMT. They're described as one of Scotland's most iconic live acts, with an unmistakable energy and a feel-good live show — the kind of thing that works well for a pre-New Year's Eve party.
